This might be a kind of frivolous recommendation but there’s a graphic novel (manga?) series called A Bride’s Story that focus on a variety of women living across what is essentially the Silk Road during the nineteenth century. The stories aren’t historical per se but the author has done a ton of research into the cultural practices, clothes, technology, etc of all the people. They’re quick reads and there’s a bunch of them out in English now but they’re an interesting look at the whole area.
